The track-record of Dr François JOURET can be subdivided into 4 successive periods: a 4-year FNRS Research Fellowship in the laboratory of Nephrology of UCL Medical School (Pr O. Devuyst, Brussels, Belgium), a 4-year Clinical Residency in Internal Medicine and Nephrology at UCL St-Luc Hospital (Pr M. Jadoul, Brussels, Belgium), a 2-year BAEF-sponsored postdoctoral stay in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Physiology of Yale Medical School (Pr M. Caplan, New Haven, CT), and his current position as FNRS MD/PhD Fellow in the GIGA Cardiovascular Sciences Unit, as well as in the Division of Nephrology (Pr J-M. Krzesinski) of ULg Academic Hospital (ULg CHU) in Liège, Belgium.

Dr Fr. JOURET is Assistant Professor at ULg Medical School and is responsible for the 30-hour course entitled “Introduction to Translational Research” (in coll. with Dr S. Berghmans) in Master 1 Biomedical Sciences.

Research topic

The group of Dr François JOURET focuses on the mechanisms of ischemic preconditioning, including the putative nephroprotective role of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC). In parallel, they investigate non-invasive approaches to diagnose acute rejection in kidney transplant recipients, including 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging and NMR-based metabolomics.
